The London Evening Standard are today featuring Paul, our 6th family see http://www.standard.co.uk/business/money/on-the-money-get-financial-help-if-mental-illness-hits-10209856.html?origin=internalSearch
Paul is suffering from a form of mental illness, a condition that is far more common than you may think and as L&G highlighted just last week, this condition accounts for some 20% of their IP claims and is their largest cause of Income Protection claim.
Paul’s video story is worth viewing for a number of reasons - Mental illness is receiving a great deal of political focus at present as part of the pre-election health resources debate, last week was national depression awareness week and w/c 11th May is national mental health awareness week, both of which set out to improve understanding of mental health issues. Note also that the FCA have recently flagged that in their vulnerable customer observation paper that the financial services sector needs to do much more to understand the needs of both vulnerable customers and their carers.

Last week Jeff Prestridge from the Mail on Sunday went to visit the Clarkes on their boat. He wrote a lovely piece about it in yesterday's Mail on Sunday and said the project had ignited their lives.
