There are many providers out their selling the whole ID verification proposition.

However few of them actually do that. At best they are validating data.

Things like the passport MRZ is an algorithm which can be easily reverse engineered.

It is for this reason we as a company routinely say to brokers the best way of verifying a client is to see them in the flesh and holding their documents. Because believe it or not we as humans are not that bad at noticing suspicious things.

Ai on the other hand, whilst quite good for remote verification, is only as good as the data that is used to teach it. Not legally being able to get hold of good fake documents, surely makes training Ai an inherently hard job.

All that said and as a direct result of the pandemic, we as a company had to find a better way to verify clients remotely. It is for this reason we have been working on our biggest project to date.

This project is part of our ValidateMe© tool which is a customer side app for collecting clients documents.

The unique feature of this tool is, it now unlocks the Near Field Communication (NFC) chip in the passport. We call this PCV (Passport Chip Verification)

The clients smart phone unlocks the chip, decrypts the data. The brokers account on our platform compares all the data, it recovers from the chip, with data we have collected from the client such as liveness photos, along with all the data that is printed on the document, to ensure it is all matches. Meaning a proper verification of the clients identity.

This new check will verify the identity of anyone in the world, as long as they hold a biometric passport. These types of passports will carry the following logo.

Importanto know

‘The NFC chip in a passport contains an encrypted copy of all the data printed on it, including the photo of the client, which should match the one visible on the document.

‘All this data is digitally encrypted and signed with a verifiable Government - issued secure certificate.

“That government-issued encryption certificate held on the chip is verified to ensure that the data has not been tampered with, providing one of the most robust ID verifications on the market at the moment.

‘All data collected by ValidateMe© is fully encrypted on the phone ensuring it is not accessible to anyone. Once it has been used it is permanently removed from the device
