A breakthrough at MAS?

Mas pushes for closer links with adviser community

The Money Advice Service has employed a consultant to forge closer links with the advisory community, a spokesman has confirmed.

Teresa Fritz, former head of content and product development for the Royal London Group-owned website MoneyVista, has joined the service to help develop its advice referral proposition.

She said it was “vital” to work closely with advisers, providers, and consumer groups to develop a working referral proposition that would “provide a clear signpost” to the right specialist firm.

Ms Fritz added: “Ultimately I see this work taking customers closer to the right parts of the regulated financial services system so people can take appropriate action when they need it most.”

IFA view

Donna Hopton, director of online intermediary forum cherry, said: “As Mas develops it has to be able to engage properly with, and signpost consumers towards, the thousands of existing advisers.

“It is heartening that Mas has agreed that what it provides is very different from, and no substitute for, regulated financial advice.”
