Ageas stalwart Smith joins Uinsure

The award-winning former UK Chief Executive of insurance giant Ageas has joined leading GI provider Uinsure.
Barry Smith, who led Ageas UK for over a decade before being appointed chief operating officer of the global brand, has been appointed a non-executive director of Uinsure as the provider continues its significant growth plans.
During his time at Ageas Smith was credited with establishing the largest insurance partnership in the UK market, Tesco Underwriting Ltd and developed new insurance partnerships with some of the UK’s most trusted brands including John Lewis and Age UK. He also led a number of successful acquisitions such as that of Groupama UK in 2012, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the British Insurance Awards in 2014 and was named Deloitte’s Director of the Year for outstanding and inspirational leadership.

Smith, who amongst other commitments will continue in his role as non-executive director on Ageas Boards in the UK, Portugal, Turkey and Italy, says: “I am thrilled to be joining Uinsure.
