Leading GI platform, Source Insurance, recently celebrated raising £7,500 for charity by holding several company events, which culminated in a third of the workforce running the Cardiff 10k last month.
22 employees signed up to run the Cardiff 10k in January, and set themselves a goal of raising £5,000. 5 charities were nominated by staff to receive the funds raised; The Alzheimer’s Society, Crohns and Colitis UK, The National Autistic Society, Save the Children and Veterans Aid. Each charity was nominated by staff who had some sort of personal connection to their cause. In the end, the company smashed their own target and ended up raising almost £7,500 for their 5 charities.
A month after the Cardiff 10k was completed, the company put on an event to present each of the charities with a cheque representing their share of the money raised.
The group of runners enjoyed the Cardiff 10k so much that they are already looking forward to their next race. The challenge next time will be less about how quickly they can run the race, and more about how well they can dress up – a group from the company is planning to take part in The Great Cardiff Bay Santa & Elf Dash in December!
