This group started as a mortgage broker originally and as the brokers were struggling to place bridging cases, they decided to set-up a bridging lender. They are now looking for a Bridging Underwriter. Working as part of an established and successful team you will be responsible for underwriting approved development and bridging loan applications within company lending criteria and personal mandate. Ensuring that the principles of the DIP are adhered to, in full, throughout the processing of the application.

The Bridging Underwriter will be reporting to the Bridging Director.

Key Responsibilities for the Bridging Underwriter

· Successfully assess and underwrite loan applications in line within credit policy

· Creation and maintenance of professional and open relationship with business providers

· Identification of incomplete or contradictory information received and successful resolution of risk and/or issue

· Recommends loans to the Underwriting Director and Credit Team where they fall outside of the lending mandate held

· Does so with clarity and good judgement

· Participates in and contributes to departmental meetings including making suggestions

· Possible coaching a team of Underwriters

· Participates in and contributes to departmental meetings including making suggestions to improve processes or (where applicable) amend policy

· Demonstrates a full understanding of regulation as it affects loans and keeps abreast of potential/actual changes

· Accurately assess the risk attributed to the application ensuring that the loan is both suitable and fit for purpose.

· Identify any potential fraudulent activity and escalate any concerns to compliance.

Skills & Experience needed to become a Bridging Underwriter

· Minimum 1 years underwriting to include holding a lending mandate, ideally in Bridging Loans or Development Finance.

· Hands-on knowledge of loan processing systems.

· Knowledge of regulation as it affects bridging loans and proven ability to implement those principles throughout the underwriting process.

· Excellent communication skills.

· Team Player
