World Cup winner and former pensions ministers to headline A Festival of Financial Planning
24 May 2017
World Cup winning rugby coach Sir Clive Woodward and two former pensions ministers are amongst a high profile list of insightful and inspirational speakers set to headline the Personal Finance Society’s (PFS) flagship conference in Birmingham later this year.
Delegates who attend A Festival of Financial Planning in November will gain access to Woodward’s insights on developing a winning mindset, while former pensions ministers Baroness Ros Altman and Sir Steve Webb will outline their expectations for the next phase of the UK’s pensions evolution.
Thousands of delegates and around 100 exhibitors are expected to descend on Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre on 7th–8th November for the Festival, representing an unprecedented gathering of the country’s professional personal finance community.
PFS chief executive Keith Richards said more than 1,000 delegates had already registered for the event, which will showcase the latest innovations from leading business and lifestyle brands, and encourage attendees to join in a range of interactive leisure and entertainment side activities.
“Initial demand for the event has been phenomenal and demonstrates the appetite to experience something different from the norm. We’re expecting this to increase even further now that we’re able to release more details about this exciting new Festival concept,” he said.
“We are truly breaking new ground with this year’s Festival of Financial Planning. Where else can you gain insights into policy from recent pensions ministers, regulators and market experts, and then jump behind the wheel of a Tesla Model S?”
Held over one and a half days, the Festival will be true to its name, offering much more than the usual conference experience. Entertainment, live music and a village green will all be on offer, with more than 70 workshops, panel discussions and keynote sessions to be run concurrently, allowing attendees to tailor their own individual programme and enjoy their own unique Festival experience.
JP Morgan Asset Management chief market strategist Stephanie Flanders and 7IM founder Justin Urquhart Stewart will explain the likely impact of Brexit on the financial planning sector, while Richard Mullender will share his experiences as a former hostage and crisis negotiator at Scotland Yard. Acclaimed author Paul Armson will offer insights on delivering a compelling client value proposition.
The event is also innovating in other ways, including its dedicated Festival Radio, powered by Informed Choice's award winning Chartered financial planner Martin Bamford.
