Society’s account for East Cheshire Hospice

SAVERS can bring some extra sunshine into the lives of patients at a Cheshire hospice – thanks to the launch of a special Leek United savings account.
Every pound that customers save in the Society’s new East Cheshire Hospice Account will help to support the vital work of the Macclesfield-based hospice.
The Account’s official launch took place at Leek United’s Macclesfield Branch, attended by the town’s MP, David Rutley.
The first 10 people to open an East Cheshire Hospice Account will also receive one of the special ceramic sunflowers, produced by local potter Caroline Tattersall to mark the hospice’s 30th anniversary this year.
Leek United Chief Executive Kevin Wilson said: “The launch of our new Savings Account builds on the Society’s long-standing links with the East Cheshire Hospice, and we are very proud to be extending our support for the hospice in this way.
“Our local communities are central to all that we do as a mutual building society, and I feel sure that a great many savers will see this as a wonderful opportunity to provide ongoing support for the fantasic work the hospice does for patients and their families.”
The hospice also currently benefits from Leek United’s 'Feelgood Mortgage' initiative, which enables applicants to choose one of four hospices to receive a cash donation from the Society on completion of their mortgage.
And colleagues from Leek United’s Congleton and Macclesfield Branches have chosen ECH as their nominated charity throughout 2018.
Kate Bowmar, East Cheshire Hospice's Corporate Fundraiser, said: “We are absolutely delighted to see this new East Cheshire Hospice Account launched.
“We receive less than 15% of our funding from the NHS, so we rely on the generosity of our community and organisations such as Leek United to raise the vital funds we need.
“Each account opened will make a real difference to the lives of our patients and families, many of whom are facing the toughest challenge of their lives.”
Mr Rutley added: “It is great to see the close and active links between East Cheshire Hospice and Leek United Building Society further strengthened with the launch of the Savings Account. I am pleased to have been at the launch of this exciting new initiative, which will make a real difference to the vital work the hospice does for patients and their families in our local communities.”
