SortRefer adds cyber security measures to increase data protection

Sort Group, the parent of online conveyancing portal, SortRefer, has further enhanced the security of its customer data and has been awarded a ‘Cyber Essentials’ certificate by IT Governance, after an extensive testing process.
Having announced its attainment of ISO 27001, the benchmark specification for information security management systems, well in advance of GDPR implementation earlier this year, Sort Group is staying ahead of developments in data security.
Kevin Tunnicliffe, CEO at Sort Group, said, “As one of the pioneers of online conveyancing platforms, we have always taken customer data security very seriously. GDPR rightly forced many businesses to put processes in place to safeguard customer data. Our attainment of ISO 27001 demonstrated a clear commitment to take data security to the next level.
The issues surrounding cyber security are a clear and present danger to the house buying and mortgage sectors, as we have seen with recent stories of fraud with customers losing deposits and funds being diverted into fraudsters’ accounts.
To be accredited for the ‘Cyber Essentials’ certificate, our network firewalls and endpoint security were tested as well as all our software to make sure we were running the latest security patches.
We want to be able to reassure customers that their security is of paramount importance and that they can be certain that Sort Group is committed to helping protect them against cybercrime.”
