Leek United announces appointment of new CEO
23 October 2018
LEEK United has announced the appointment of Andrew Healy as the Society’s new Chief Executive Officer.
Andrew, 51, joins Leek United from the largest bank in the Maldives, Bank of Maldives, where he has been CEO and Managing Director since 2014. He brings more than 25 years of experience in financial services to his new role, including over 10 years at CEO and board level.
Andrew started his career with Natwest and has worked in senior roles in both Europe and Asia. He is a current board director of the Asian Banking Association and a former chairman of the Northern Ireland Banking Association. During his time with Bank of Maldives, the organisation has seen consistent improvements in profitability, risk standards and customer satisfaction and has received awards for innovation, progressive HR practises and investment in communities.
Andrew’s appointment follows the decision by Kevin Wilson to stand down after 14 years as Chief Executive; Kevin will remain in post until December, working to ensure a seamless handover to Andrew.
The Society’s Chair, Rachel Court, said: “Following a rigorous selection process, I am delighted to announce Andrew as Leek United’s new CEO. He shares our commitment to mutual values and excellent customer service, and his leadership, financial and commercial expertise will help to ensure that he builds on the Society’s continuing success.
“The Board was unanimous in its choice of Andrew to take Leek United forward; we very much look forward to working with him, and wish him every success.”
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Andrew holds a first class Master’s degree in Business and a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Services. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Banking in Ireland and a Chartered Member of the UK Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Andrew commented: “I am honoured to be given the opportunity to continue Kevin’s good work at Leek United. In an increasingly crowded and challenging financial services landscape, I look forward to helping to positively differentiate the Society in a way that fully recognises its fine traditions, loyal members and hardworking staff.”
