Brightstar Group launches 2022 Young Learners Summer Work Placement programme
23 May 2022
The Brightstar Group is delighted to launch its 2022 Young Learners Summer Work Placement programme. Building on previous years of success, the Brightstar Group will be hosting a range of students throughout the summer months at both its Billericay and London offices.
Both businesses have formalised strong links with local schools, also partnering with one school on its BTEC business course which provides the opportunity for Brightstar to be involved with activities such as motivational talks, taster days, mock interview days and provide real life experiences in an office setting to study units such as entrepreneurialism, graphic design and social media and IT. Brightstar also participates in careers events so as to inspire young people to try a career in financial services.
The Brightstar Group is fully committed to ensuring that its workforce is as diverse and inclusive as possible. Its involvement with the Young Learners programme provides opportunities to bring more young people into the industry and much-needed young blood.
Group Director of People Development, Clare Jupp, commented: “We are really excited about this year‘s Young Learners Summer Work Placement Programme. This is the biggest programme that we have run this far and we have built on previous successes to roll out something really ambitious for 2022. We are opening the doors to a whole host of young people, ranging from year 11 students right through to undergraduates, with a view to inspiring young people to take up a career in financial services and to make them aware of the brilliant opportunities that are available to them in so many different aspects. We are keen to welcome people from groups of all protected characteristics and this programme certainly helps us to attract those who are starting out their careers. This programme meshes perfectly with our culture of ‘growing our own‘ and our ‘greenhouse effect’ which we are immensely proud of.
“We have had brilliant success at the Brightstar group with training and nurturing young people into other roles across the business, even at the most senior levels. Our own Group Chief Operating Officer, William Lloyd Hayward is a brilliant example of this, beginning at Brightstar as our very first administrator and now holding this vital role for the entire group.
“There are countless other examples of team members who have trained to become mortgage advisors and brokers, Team Leaders and Sales Captains or who have moved into other areas of the business such as finance and executive PA roles. In addition to this, we currently have four members of the team who completed a work experience placement with us previously, so it’s also an effective recruitment. It is fantastic to see other organisations in the mortgage industry also engaging in these kind of activities and I would personally commend this to other businesses.”
