Getting to know... Paul Johnson, Key Account Manager at Buckinghamshire Building Society
14 June 2022
Paul joined the Buckinghamshire Building Society in May as Key Account Manager for the Midlands, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the Mortgage and Building Society Sector and we are delighted to have him on board.
We hope you enjoy finding out a little more about him!
What do you love most about your job?
That every day is different – I enjoy variety as well as being in different places and meeting different people.
What motivates you?
I really enjoy the feeling of getting a particularly tricky or unusual case agreed and working hard to find the right solution. The Buckinghamshire is great at that.
What do you think are the next big trends in the mortgage industry?
The ongoing rise in the cost of living across the UK will likely make it harder for some applicants to fit lenders’ credit scoring criteria. Applicants will be looking for flexibility more than ever, creating a shift towards more flexible case by case basis underwriting from lenders.
What does being part of a mutually owned building society mean to you?
Making higher profits is not the main focus of a mutual, the customer is. It’s a good feeling.
What is the best advice someone has given you?
Treat others how you would like to be treated.
Describe your perfect day.
A sunny morning walk, a couple of drinks watching Wasps rugby team win, followed by a good curry with the family.
If you could invite 3 people out to dinner, who would they be?
David Attenborough, Barack Obama, and Lee Mack.
