The ‘Five Foxes’ launch the Leicestershire Lenders Live Event

20 October 2023

Five Leicestershire-based Building Societies have teamed up to launch the inaugural Leicestershire Lenders Live Event.

The Leicestershire Lenders Live Event will take place at Leicestershire County Cricket Club on Wednesday 1st November. The event will be hosted by the region’s ‘five foxes’ – The Loughborough Building Society, Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, Melton Building Society, Earl Shilton Building Society and Market Harborough Building Society.

This is an intermediary-focused event which will provide broker attendees with unique insights from each individual Society and as a collective. Lender representatives will focus on the history of the Building Society, their impact on the local community, their differing lending approaches and, crucially, how they can help brokers to grow their business and meet more of their clients ever-shifting needs.

The day will include a live panel debate featuring the CEO’s of the five Building Societies and presentations from their BDMs on some of the more specialist lending solutions they provide. Product areas covered will include Family Deposit Joint Borrower Sole Proprietor (JBSP), Buying for University, Bridging Finance, Holiday Lets, Self-Build, Adverse Credit, Lending in Later Life, Income Flex and Mortgage Referral Committee.

The CEOs in attendance will be:

Gary Brebner, CEO at The Loughborough Building Society
Colin Fyfe, CEO at Hinckley & Rugby Building Society
Simon Taylor, CEO at Melton Building Society
Paul Tilley, CEO at Earl Shilton Building Society
Iain Kirkpatrick, CEO at Market Harborough Building Society

Gary Brebner, CEO at Loughborough Building Society commented:
“This is a truly unique event within our industry but one which makes complete sense as we are all institutions who are striving to ensure that we can best service the needs of our local communities and our intermediary partners from a lending perspective.

“Whilst we all maintain our individual approaches to this, we also have a common goal when it comes to providing specialist lending solutions which can make a real difference for a range of borrowers in what remains a challenging economic environment.”

Colin Fyfe, CEO at Hinckley and Rugby Building Society said:

“Leicestershire is at the centre of the country - with five building society headquarters ready and placed to support the mortgage needs of our local communities. Sharing knowledge, skills and experience helps mortgage brokers and consumers understand the support that building societies can offer.”

Simon Taylor, CEO Melton Building Society, remarked:

“I am delighted to come together with my fellow CEO’s for this unique event. I am always thrilled to hear the difference each society is making to their communities, members and brokers.

“I look forward to discussing the challenges that society faces which make Building Societies as relevant today as they were 150 years ago.”

Paul Tilley, CEO at Earl Shilton Building Society, stated:

“Providing a forum to exchange information and views will enable lenders and intermediary partners to widen their proposition and build knowledge and experience. This can only assist potential and existing clients in a win-win situation. It’s a real demonstration of mutuality and collaboration working in practice.”

Iain Kirkpatrick, CEO of Market Harborough Building Society, added:

“Leicestershire benefits from having more local building societies than any other county. We’re combining forces to show intermediaries that together we cover all the sought-after specialist lending areas in today’s mortgage market, and all on their doorstep.

“The success of this lending and our savings mean we can all invest back into the local area – making a great proposition for our intermediary partners, their clients and our communities. I can’t wait to talk more about this on 1 November and invite anyone else who wants to attend to sign up.”
