LLOYDS BANKING GROUP BECOMES 150TH MORTGAGE INDUSTRY MENTAL HEALTH CHARTER SIGNATORY

10 October 2024

Halifax, Birmingham Midshires and Scottish Widows brands unite to prioritise mental health in the mortgage industry

Lloyds Banking Group, through its leading Halifax Intermediaries, Birmingham Midshires and Scottish Widows Bank brands, has become the 150th major signatory to the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC).

By joining the Charter, Lloyds Banking Group has reaffirmed its commitment to mental health and wellbeing across the UK mortgage sector.

MIMHC, founded three years ago, is a growing initiative dedicated to supporting mental health within the mortgage industry. It provides resources, expert guidance, and a framework for companies to improve the mental wellbeing of their teams. Lloyds Banking Group joins an impressive list of signatories who have pledged to make mental health a priority in their workplaces.

Nicola Golder, Senior Manager, Intermediary Experience at Lloyds Banking Group, commented on the significance of this commitment:
"We are delighted to become signatories of the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter through our Halifax Intermediaries, Birmingham Midshires, and Scottish Widows Bank brands. Mental health is a critical area for us as we continue to enhance the support we provide to both our colleagues and intermediary partners.

“By joining MIMHC, we aim to strengthen our efforts in fostering a positive and supportive work environment, ensuring that mental health is always part of the conversation. It’s crucial that we work together as an industry to create lasting change."

As part of their commitment to the Charter, Halifax Intermediaries, Birmingham Midshires, and Scottish Widows Bank will actively promote mental health awareness and provide resources to support their teams and intermediary partners. The Charter serves as a valuable platform for firms of all sizes to access mental health tools, webinars, and expert referrals to help maintain a healthy workplace culture.

Scott Howitt, Co-Founder of MIMHC and Sales Director at Chartwell Mortgage Services, welcomed Lloyds Banking Group’s decision to join the Charter:
"Having Lloyds Banking Group onboard, which in turn marks our 150th signatory, are two significant milestones for the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter. Their influence and leadership in the mortgage space will help us drive positive change across the industry.

“We are excited to see their commitment to mental health and believe their involvement will encourage more firms to sign up and prioritize the wellbeing of their teams. Together, we can create a healthier, more supportive environment for everyone working in the mortgage sector."

With Lloyds Banking Group’s involvement, the MIMHC continues to build momentum in its mission to become the ‘go-to’ platform for mental health and wellbeing support within the mortgage industry.

There are no costs involved in becoming a signatory, and firms are encouraged to actively engage with the Charter to enhance their own mental health initiatives.
