Computershare Loan Services donates £10,000 to the Trussell Trust in response to Covid-19; Charity Donations Fund accepting new applications

Computershare Loan Services has donated £10,000 from its Charity Donations Fund to the Trussell Trust, a charity which supports a nationwide network of 1,200 food bank centres providing emergency food to people in the UK.

As the UK’s largest third-party mortgage servicer, Computershare Loan Services sets aside £20,000 annually for its donations fund to help prevent financial hardship and support those experiencing money problems.

By donating £10,000 to the Trussell Trust, Computershare Loan Services says it hopes to play a part in supporting people who require emergency food and need to use food banks as they are unable to afford the basics because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Samantha Stapley, Chief Operating Officer at the Trussell Trust, said:

“As the coronavirus outbreak develops, more people are likely to need a food bank’s help.

“Our teams are working tirelessly to ensure that food banks are able to remain open and have the necessary stocks to respond to this crisis.”

Computershare Loan Services has given more than £40,000 to UK charities focused on issues relating to financial difficulties since the October 2017 launch of its Charity Donations Fund.

It is now accepting applications for up to £5,000 for its next round of funding.

The company has funded a number of charities, including helping:

• The Institute of Money Advisors train 22 money advisers, enabling them to deliver high quality and accurate advice to people with problem debt
• Epilepsy Scotland support people to access benefits and improve their well-being
• Citizens Advice Gateshead extend its debt service to North East families who have been destabilised financially by serious medical life challenges
• Turn2us host three workshops for workers and volunteers to help them better assist people to apply for support
• The Money Charity provide 5,000 free copies of its Student Money Manual to people aged between 16 and 18

Computershare Loan Services has a charity donations committee made up of staff members from every Computershare Loan Services office — Skipton, Crossflatts, Derry and Doxford.

The group meets on a quarterly basis to review applications and award donation funds. The next application deadline is 31 October 2020 with funds awarded in November 2020. The application form is available to download here.
